Skimboard Camps
I have been running a skimboarding camp for 6 years now at Dash Point State Park in Washington. Being able to share my passion with kids has taught me many valuable lessons. It has shown me how to manage a large group, increased my customer service skills, how to use a booking software, run marketing campaigns, and more. Plus, it's a ton of fun!
DB Pro/Am
This is a skimboarding competition that brings people from around the world. I was the event coordinator last year for this competition, and after months of prep and hard work, it was a huge success! It allowed me to gain knowledge in areas such as marketing and promotion, media creation, sponsors, event planning, and operations. I also built all of the ramps and features.
Skimboarding Pools
Through my entrepreneurship minor at WWU, I have had the opportunity to pursue an idea I have had for years. I wanted to start using pools to skimboard instead of just going to a beach. Through the program, I have practiced giving business pitches, conducting customer interviews, gathering evidence, creating a business model, and being on a project team. These are all skills I plan to use throughout my career.
Tutorial Videos
I got the opportunity to do an instructional video series that showed beginning skimboarders how to increase their skills. This taught me how to put together a script, develop media, speak in front of a camera, and it helped me explain skimboarding in a clear and concise way.
