Making Money For Charity
Through another one of my entrepreneurship courses, we had the challenge of making money with the goal of donating all of the proceeds to charity. The idea was to come up with a business model that was simple enough to setup and take down within 10 weeks. I lead my group to the idea of selling pizza on campus, but with a twist. Add puppies! These two "products" were a huge hit, and everyone enjoyed grabbing a bite to eat and playing with the dogs. At the end, we were able to give a donation to the Whatcom Humane Society!
I learned a good amount about entrepreneurship through this project. One is that if you are excited about a vision, chances are others around you will be excited too, especially if the deliverable is fun! Another learning moment is that you need to be able to pivot when things do not go as planned. Being able to adapt quickly will be an asset to the organization.
