Organization Description

  • Located in Bellingham Washington. 

  • College of Business and Economics has the goal of providing quality education to students, building their skills with experts in business fields. 

  • Approximately 16,000 students attending WWU

  • Approximately 12 percent of them are enrolled in the College of Business and Economics.

  • Approximately 30 percent of students attending WWU, and 42 percent of students within CBE, are first-generation students, meaning that they are the first in their family to attend a four-year post-secondary education institution.

  • Nearly half of all first-generation students are eligible for state-funded Pell grants, which is also an indicator of low-income status..

Supervisor: Sasha Steiner, Development Director of CBE

  • Currently the Development Director of the College of Business and Economics

  • 10 years of experience in development field.

  • Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Leadership.

  • Graduate degree from France with a Master of Arts in Business with a concentration in International Business Development at the Universite de Lyon Lumiere 2.

  • Main duties consist of program development and getting funding for the school through grants, donations, and more.

  • As a first-generation student herself. she is very passionate about this project.

Learning Objectives

  • To have effective experience practicing leadership, management and facilitation.

  • To improve writing skills related to leading and managing in organizations.

  • To effectively use course concepts and terms to diagnose leadership and to diagnose and improve your own leadership experience.

  • To develop and practice skills necessary for effectively leading teams and projects.

  • To understand the implications of diversity and and ethics on leadership in organizations.

  • To develop written, oral and interpersonal communication skills as a leader.

  • To practice professionalism in a business context.
